Right and who gets to bury bad contracts in the minors without couting against the Cap. That rule needs to go and to be fair the rule that allows the Isles to get to the Cap floor needs to go as well.

Revenue sharing? As in, the revenue sharing concepts between teams?

That doesn't have a hell of a lot to do with this lockout. It's the percentage of revenue going to the players that is at issue.

It really should be a big part of the issue. The NHL owners need to get on the same page and fix issues with each other as well as the players otherwise this mess will happen every CBA. You cannot just have a handful of teams making money and the rest are struggling.

Sure. But you also can't continually robbing the rich to give to the poor, just because they're rich. At some point, the have-nots have to fend for themselves, at least a little bit.

No question if revenue sharing is bumped up then the have-nots have to step up more and do a better job putting out a quality product. If these teams continue to struggle you have to look into moving some of them to better markets. I just think this fight is more than just owner vs player. I just hate to see about 5 teams get all the top FA's and players only wanting to be traded to those top teams. Things seem very out of whack. Hopefully I'm making sense.

Non-traditional/small market teams are having no issues competing since the last lockout. It's not an issue right now.

No. They're fighting over 46% vs 57% of the league revenue going from teams to players.

can say im really upset that nash got hurt.

Im just glad its not one of ours.

Agree with comment that Nolan is big reason this happend. 9mm a year contracts to Scott Gomez. Raised the bar on players salaries in a big way.

This is not true at all. This lockout is much more about the small market owners & Bettman continueing his Napolean ways. And the Rangers are about 5 % of the $ that Dolan pockets out of the Garden.

No matter, as I just posted on the Rangers thread, I've been a die hard hockey fan for almost 30 years & I never thought there would be a day when I would even fathom not watching hockey, but this sh!t is just too much. ANOTHER work stoppage, no matter the reason is just insane! If this sport loses the die hards how are they supposed to keep or gain the casual fan?

Yep & while I am much more pro player, as this drags on I just don't care, just want to watch hockey, but how much more can us fans take? Bettman literally laughs at us, "We have the best fans in the world!" Yes he says w a chuckle, so he thinks he can just take advantage of us again & again & we'll come back. Sad that he is right for the most part.

Yes!!! EXACTLY what I was hoping would happen! They all need to get injured! Then when the greedy filthy owners figure their stuff out and tell the NHL to resume nobody shows up cuz all the stars are injured Perfect karma!

Robbing from the rich because they are rich. This seems to be the ideology of some Americans these days

Revenue shareing had NOTHING to do with it as it exists already, you can't argue with these idiots. And contracts to DP and Yashin (who is still getting paid) were just great. Just contract the Isles already, nobody will miss this joke of a franchise.

First off. Nobody is arguing or wasnt arguing till you came along. Second of all revenue sharing is part of the problem. Maybe you dont know how to read? Third. Who are you calling an idiot? You bring up yashin and dp when you have gomez, drury, redden, Holik, keane. The list goes on. If anyone is an idiot it is you. Bring your little dog and pony show somewhere else no one is interested.

Exactly, it is the typical mindset of "hey your better off then I am so you should be obligated to help me." The Islanders are poor because Charles Wang and Nassau County choose for the Islanders to be poor. Wanna be a big market team move to Brooklyn.

"Industry revenue has grown from $2.1 billion to $3.3 billion annually under the expiring deal. Owners asked players to cut their share of hockey related revenue from 57 to 43 percent, and then modified their offer to 46 percent during a six-year proposal. Players are concerned management hasn't addressed its problems by re-examining the teams' revenue-sharing format."

NHL owners need to work as partners. It cannot be the top 5 money making owners just looking out for themselves and they tell the rest of the owners to sink. It's not about taking from the rich. It's about getting as many teams healthy as possible and healthy competition.
